Heart and Seoul

Seoul is so clean and orderly...

Cute guys. Kevin we met at Bong House and he was soooo sweet.  Mr. Bong (adorable), Kevin(flirtatious), and C(studly) took us to delicious places to eat, ordered for us in Korean, helped us prepare the food, and made sure our Seoul experience was memorable.

Its lovely to see a man - bad boy style - COOK for us. That is unbelievable sexy.

Gandalf? What are you doing here...
Cool tatoo on a handsome guy. I asked to take his picture.

Wow, 3 story Dunkin Donuts... I can imagine reading a book or just drinking hot chocolate and conversing on the top floor after a long day of work.

Away we go!

We ate a yummy restaurant shaped like a castle. Dining outside on a lovely evening is perfect with good company, sizzling meat, and the right amount of beer and soju.

Spicy chicken, medium chicken stuffed with rice, salty chicken. <3

Afterwards, we went out for My's birthday. That included drinks and

pool at Bong Bar, shots at 8pal(1), shots and dancing at BUNKER!
I LOVE THIS SHOT of April and Corey. Very natural as they were laughing at my forgetting Corey's name.

We had soondooboo soft tofu for lunch the next day. Eggs in a nest.
Michael (Brit with a toothpick in his mouth) kinda looks like Channing Tatum and Jonathan Rhys Meyers, right? Hot boys!

The gals wanted to shopping at Dong Dae Mun so we did. I didn't buy anything but I really like the clean cut boyish look.

I love eating outside. We had korean bbq (steak and spicy pork).

Mr. Bong took us to a cafe where every drink was 2000 Won.
Below is My, April, and traveller Lily from Singapore.

Kevin was SO cute to say goodbye to us in the early morning right before we got on our airbus. We got to Taipei early so April and got our hair washed and ended the Asia trip with a STRONG margarita at her friend's awesome restaurant.

Taipei and Seoul trip 2009

The 2009 Taipei and Seoul trip was a whirlwind of food, sights, new friends, and lots of walking! The weather was humid, windy, and lovely at times.

First off, we stayed in a 3 bedroom apartment off of Minquan E. Rd. It was within 3 minutes walking distance of the MRT and very convenient... like every other place in Taipei.

I adore tropical fruit and its pretty much the only fruit I'll eat. Luckily, Taipei has loads of it so we usually enjoyed some for breakfast.

Chiang Kai Shek Memorial with My and JC.

Taiwanese food is delicious...
Tasty tofu and pork blood. The sauce was ... hard to explain but very fragrant.

Eslite sells some interesting designer items that are quite eccentric. You can't really find it at a typical mainstream store.
This speaker is neat because it looks sleek and classic but you pretty much can hook it up to your ipod. They have 2 holes where you stick your earphones into and then it amplifies out from the speaker.

A cool gift idea. Its a KNIFE mirror and GUN comb set.

Taiwan breakfasts are better than any other breakfasts out there. Enjoying some xiao long bao, dan bing, and sao bing you tiao!

At Jiu Fen we enjoyed taro balls and traditional tea tasting.

Yea... I'd like to have that.

MOS HAMBURGER!! Rice bun, pork, burger heaven.

A really cool jewelry tree in the Shida area.

A little lion pup.

A taste of things to come?

Ma la huo guo!!! HOT POT spicy style at MK.

One of the coolest things about this Taipei trip was a charismatic funny guy we met named Jerry. He showed us Taipei 101, gave us tips on where to check out and introduced us to his cute local friends while karaoking. Good times!

Yang Ming mountain and cala lily beauty.

My uncle's new place in Ilan. The night view was serene and can be enjoyed from the hot spring bathtub and balcony.

And most importantly, they have Hello Kitty mahjong set. Haha...

Ahhhh, potstickers. More breakfast food. :P
Afternoon siesta break?

YUM

I saw this puppy at Shihlin night market and got kind of attached. Poor lonely sleepy puppy. I wanted to take it home.

Our last eve in Taipei was spent eating shabu shabu and karaoking til the crack of dawn!

GOODBYE Taipei! Haha, local Jerry is so cute...look at him surrounded by girls. PLAYAS! :)

Full of sound and fury, signifying nothing

Holy cow, is it really already March 2009?

Since I write in my diary and spiritual journal on a consistent basis, I tend to forget I have a xanga account and will neglect posting for months at a time. Not that many people read this but it's always interesting for us to look back and see what I was ranting or raving about in retrospect.

2009 has actually been a pretty interesting year so far in terms of new or affirming experiences. Left Orange County in August of last year and am now working and playing in the Bay area. Started a relationship in September of last year and ended it January of this year. Taking ballet classes on Monday and Wednesdays. Started swimming again. Played badminton for the first time in my life. Found a great salsa class in Emeryville on Sunday nights. Met a salsa partner and we practiced at Cafe Cocomo's. Went hiking in some hills and had a Sound of Music moment. Attended a jazz concert at Yoshi's in San Francisco. Went wine tasting three times in Napa Sonoma. Dated. Attend flamenco and Alvin Ailey performances alone by barting to Berkeley. Enjoyed juicy steak with red wine. Dreamt about God, love, and my grandma.

 Desiderata

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others,
even to the dull and ignorant; they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter,
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.

Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs,
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals,
and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.

Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be.
And whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace with your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

updates!

- my boss is so nice! he will make sure to teach me something and even tell other managers to wait until he has taught me something completely to the end! wow!
- my trainer and i are on better terms now! i think something made him realize that he might not have been too nice and today he was actually joking around with me
- i have so many responsibilities now. they keep giving me more things to do. it went from loading just CRS and GSR main lines, to doing those and firefly, LSI, GSR peripherals, and CRS peripherals... from 12 to like 60 different part numbers. plus i do random projects my boss asks me to do as well as other projects other managers ask me to do. plus the daily morning meetings, updating them all, and trying to be caught up to date with all the PM's. omg!

on the side note, i went ballroom dancing last night at a cheap little studio near work. mostly chinese ladies go there with their husbands but the dance teachers are young.
we learned waltz and cha cha last night which was great exercise and very enjoyable. it has been a long time since i danced and it felt great!
